The Jean Pigozzi African Art Collection

It is an artistic constellation of the African continent that the gallery MAGNIN-A unveils at the beginning of 2023. In its spaces, it brings together 50 works by 23 artists from different generations and backgrounds. The selection made by André Magnin responds to this desire to affirm the diversity of the African contemporary scene. The exhibition offers a sensitive conversation between mediums and practices through a choice of historical pieces and recent new works (1930 - 2022). The opportunity to discover the latest paintings by JP Mika, Amadou Sanogo, Chéri Samba and Houston Maludi and the colorful weavings of Ana Silva meeting the mechanical delirium of Abu Bakarr Mansaray as well as the poetic drawings of Frédéric Bruly Bouabré, or Marcel Miracle, enigmatic. The rich sculptures of Seyni Awa Camara watch over the iconic images of Malick Sidibé, Seydou Keïta, J.D. 'Okhai Ojeikere and Jean Depara. While Romuald Hazoumé's masks mingle with Moké's paintings and John Goba's sculptures. The exhibition will also feature works by Cyprien Tokoudagba, Estevão Mucavele, George Lilanga as well as amazing shots from Studio Sandy shown for the first time!
