This year, the major exhibition of Planche(s) Contact - the creative photography festival in Deauville, brings together two photographers who never had time to meet, but who could have been friends: Robert Doisneau, who left on April 1, 1994, and Malick Sidibé, who came to Paris for the first time in January 1995.

This dialogue between two worlds and two cultures is also reflected in the choice of the series presented, which are lesser-known “bubbles” in their respective bodies of work: Palm Spring, ( in color! ) from a report by Doisneau commissioned by Fortune magazine in 1960, on the construction of golf courses in Palm Spring, a refuge for wealthy American retirees in the Colorado desert, and the images, many of them previously unpublished, of young people in Bamako, photographed by Malick Sidibé in the early 70s, at the city's brand-new swimming pool or along the Niger River.
