Barthélémy Toguo – Musée de la BnF, Richelieu, Paris

In response to the Paris BnF museum's invitation to take up the new theme for 2024/2025, ‘The world as a horizon’, Barthélémy Toguo offers a personal journey punctuated by works that question memory, the gaze and exile. His generous works are also a repository for anonymous voices and forgotten faces. The public will be guided to the museum by a monumental installation by the artist, A Book is my Hope, shown for the first time in France, which will take over the staircase of the Richelieu site. Toguo's Great Bards, ceramics and medals will interact with the collections of the Department of Coins, Medals and Antiques in the first rooms of the BnF museum. The Mazarin gallery will host a series of graphic works, bas-reliefs and a second installation by the artist.
