La Fondation Cartier – Exposition Générale – Paris

Exposition Générale traces forty years of contemporary art at the Fondation Cartier, drawing on a collection built up over the course of its programming. By reactivating the social, cultural, and architectural heritage of its building and its openness to the city, it sketches out an alternative map of contemporary art and, through its new architectural layout designed by Jean Nouvel, inaugurates a renewed approach to exhibition-making. Reflecting the history of the institution, its programming, and its openness to the world in all its diversity, the Fondation Cartier Collection traces forty years of international contemporary creation. The General Exhibition presents the founding principles of this unique heritage through emblematic works and selected fragments from exhibitions that have punctuated its programming since its creation in 1984.
