The Biennale of Contemporary African Art in Dakar, Senegal entitled Dak'art is one of the main events on the African continent to devote its selection exclusively to artists living on and off the continent. Established by the State of Senegal since 1989 with a first edition devoted to Literature in 1990, it will be dedicated to contemporary art in the second edition in 1992.

The official opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the Biennale of Contemporary African Art, Dak'art will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the National Theatre Daniel Sorano in Dakar under the chairmanship of His Excellency Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal.
