| JapanCongo, Culture & Events in Moscow - In Your Pocket city guide |
German artist Carsten Höller is a fan of juxtaposition and in this exhibit, put together with the help of art collector Jean Pigozzi, he has chosen to contrast Congolese and Japanese art. For the large part the colourful art brut of the Congolese paintings seem to have little in common with the distinctive modern Japanese style, but as the viewer is invited to examine the display from more angles, the complexities and themes of both styles slowly find their common parallels.
